Giving Mirek the wrong sample
Mirek took his sample from dark murky water — that is the Swamp, on B. Assigning Mirek the River or Volcano breaks the murky-water clue and the B placement.
Breaking the triple-zoom neighbor rule
One of B's neighbors has triple E's zoom: E = 400x, so the triple is 1200x on A (B's left neighbor). Placing 1200x on C or D leaves the ratio unsatisfied.
Separating the collaborating scientists wrongly
Solis reviews her subordinate Vera on the same microscope — both sit at C. Solis only met Quill later, so Quill cannot share C; putting Quill on C breaks both clues.
